Random Things: The Weekend Before School Starts Edition

1.  Since I will have my own classroom again, I am seriously considering not giving any homework except for reading. (As in read some books, for goodness sake!!)

2.  Trying to figure out a way to wear an Indiana Jones outfit to school on the first day without looking like I am trying too hard.

3.  Had some mangoes at a teacher meeting yesterday.  Usually I don't like mango, but it was so yummy!

4.  Ate at Benihana last night--wouldn't it be cool if dinner every night was performance art? (Probably wouldn't be as exciting with a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese...)

5.  Written very few words this week.  Not happy about that.  At all.

6.  Fresh baguette=awesome.  Old baguette=yuck. (No, it's okay, I didn't need that tooth anyway.)

7.  Bought some frames yesterday to put some of my bookcovers in...yes, I am three books behind. But the frames are bought.  Hopefully I'll get it done before 2012.

8.  I am afraid to make a list of everything I need to do this weekend. It is not good to live in fear, but there you have it.

So, what's the randomness that's clogging your brain these days?

You have to wear the Indy outfit at some point this year!
Good luck in the new school year. It's always crazy busy. My kids have 3 bdays in a month & back to school. I'll be working 1/2 days in their school since my baby is in first grade all day now. I'm looking forward to being in the classroom again! (though I'll be making much, much less $ now, but hey, I'll be making a difference, right?!)
Have a great weekend, Shelley!

Kelly-That's my new favorite quote! "I don't make much money, but I make a difference!!"

Old baguette can be delicious if you:

A. Use it to make French toast the next morning; or

B. Make panzanella salad. Put bread in bottom of bowl, drizzle with olive oil, then add tomatoes, basil, cucumber, red onion and mozzerella cheese. Let sit for a few minutes and eat.

:-)

Shelley, if you do wear your Indiana Jones outfit, I want some pictures!!

Also, agreed on the old baguette comment - I always buy the half baguette size, so that I don't have to deal with the extra, two-day-old bread.

Have a great first day at school!

LoL, love #2! I'm such a fan of Indiana Jones. Good lcuk with everything, Shelley! :)

I'm hoping Hurricane Irene won't be as bad as the meteorologists are predicting. I want to keep my electricity and water!

I would've LOVED that kind of homework! Maybe just wear the Indiana Jones hat? I can't think of any random right now. I know it's there, I just can't remember it.

You sound like an amazing teacher -- you HAVE to wear that outfit.

I'm wrangling one of those huge Norton anthologies into a 16 week semester of tidy lesson plans. Every time I sit down to work on it, I find something else that needs doing.

Yes, I am living in fear, but happy new semester!

I have never eaten at a Benihana. I remember aching to go when I was a kid and some of the cooler kids had birthday parties there. They came back with cool stories about the cool food served in a cool way. I still want to go, but it slipped off my wish list somehow. Thanks for putting it back on :)

Hmmm... I plan to dress up like Hatshepsut for Halloween, but I love the Indiana Jones idea. Although I'd be tempted to add a pith helmet just for kicks.

Have a great week!

Def. wear the outfit. And def. just give reading homework! My randomness is that the first day of school is tomorrow and I'm ready to start writing!

You have to wear the outfit and you have to post pictures.

heh heh, I used to give Math homework out of guilt for spending way too much time on reading in my classroom (or at least it felt that way)!!! xo

Old baguette is good for nothing but removing old, loose teeth. Ech.

An Indiana Jones outfit is always a good idea. As a fellow teacher - setting up the school year/classroom is not conducive to a daily word goal. I'm in week 2 and my routine is back in place. Speaking of HW - Have you read THE BOOK WHISPERER? I've dumped reading logs and we now measure by the book. Kids read TONS more with that philosophy. Have a great year.

I want pictures when you wear that Indy outfit!

All randomness clogging my brain these days has to do with moving. Not the most interesting mental space to be in...
