Things I Love

So, it's been, to quote Bart Simpson, a craptacular day. (And if I'm quoting Bart Simpson, well, that says something right there because I am not the Bart-Simpson-Quoting-Type)

I could come here and whine about it, but then I'll just feel even worse. There's something about putting words into writing that makes a feeling more real. And I don't even really have a reason to whine. Nothing really bad happened. Just a cruddy day.

Sooooooo......

I'm going to list a few things I love in order to put myself in a better mood:

1. slippers (like uggs, or something equally soft on the inside.) Already I feel a bit cozier.

2. Abraham Lincoln-because isn't there some quote from him about happiness being a decision that you make...? (Help me out here...or I'll have to google it myself.....)

3. muppets- Ah, yes, a snarky remark from Miss Piggy, or a thrown fish from the Swedish Chef would do me a world of good right now.

4. potatoes-I've probably blabbed about potatoes before. But seriously, could there be any better food?

5. cheese-(Earth to Shelley-go make dinner) yup, I'm hungry.

6. Lost-I had forgotten until a few minutes ago that it was Lost night. See, truly it is the little things that make us happy!

7. When my kids clean the kitchen-Which happened last night!!! Bliss, I tell you.

8. When the rain starts pouring down right AFTER you get home. (Thanks, Mr. Cloud)

See, I'm only to 8 and already I feel better.

Oh, and um, guess what? I finished my WIP YA a few nights ago! So that should make me very happy, indeed!

(Not even looking over at the desk upon now which is an empty tea-cup, a plastic watch container, safety scissors, and another camera, along with all of the other stuff. It will just tick me off if I look at it.)

Okay, now I want a potato smothered in cheese! Yum! What a great way to get feeling better. I think I'll go do that too, though your post helped ME a lot already!

Can't help you on the Abraham Lincoln quote. Well, I could, but my husband is dragging me away to watch an episode of "Get Smart". Oh yes, I'm a fan. I think they're hilarious!

Hi Shelley, I've seen your comments on other blogs I follow so I made the jump over here. I teach first grade and we love the Good Knight books! Very exciting that you have just finished a YA MS. Best of luck with it! I am working on one, but it is not anywhere near done yet... :) One day! Hope whatever's getting you down doesn't last too long.

"People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Is that the one you're looking for?

Well, I had a crappy day but thankfully I read your blog and am going to take a leaf out of your book and focus on all the things that do make me happy. Thanks for the lift-me-up!

I like your attitude here! That's how we should do it when we're feeling hurumph-y. think of things we love.

Cheese is also on my list. Especially if it slathered over a huge enchilada :D

One thing I love: that you said "craptacular". *snicker, snicker*

mmmm, warm feet, baked potato and watching the rain from a toasty place--I love your magic touch in turning the day around.
Way to go, on that WIP! *slinks off to write*

Hmm. Now I'm thinking that I should have read your post before writing mine. I had a bad day too. Yesterday was pretty great though.

Congratulations on finishing your WIP! That's rather spectacular. ;) It's your first novel, isn't it?

Nisa-I remember watching Get Smart as a kid and being amazed that CHAOS sounded like Kay-os, I mean, is language cool or what?

Lindsey-Thanks for stopping by! And I love that your class loves the Good Knight. I am working with some 5th graders on putting a play of one of the books on right now. They adapt quite well to the stage. (What is getting me down is too much work at work, if the truth be told)

Jackee-Thank you! That's the one.
Sorry your day was cruddy, too. Maybe it was universal craptacular day?

Tess-Yes! Yes! Yes! I can actually smell it now.....sigh

Catherine-Again, I have to credit Bart...(but it is SUCH a descriptive word!)

PJ-Thanks. Yes, there are many good things...just need to pull myself into them..

Tricia-Yes, I finally finished Wren..just the first draft, though. At least I finally know how it ends!

Myrna-Now I'm going to zip over to your blog and see what's up! (It is my first YA novel, but probably the 4th ...2 are drawer novels until I figure out a way to resurrect them. One is a Middle grade that I quite like.)

I'm sorry you had a craptacular day. Ugh! But I agree with all eight of the happy things you listed (except Miss Piggy. I prefer Gonzo)!

Congrats on your finished YA WIP! I hope this is a happier day. :-)
