Randomness

1. When is U2 going to come out with a new CD?

2. My house is too cold. I live in SoCal. There is no excuse.

3. Too many good books to read, no time to crack them open. sigh.

4. How is it even possible that there are 12 books on my tiny desk? And a lamp, laptop, manuscript pages, bookmark....oh, and a Christmas card I accidentally addressed to myself and mailed. Way to go, self.

5. There is a vase with flowers on my mantle that is from before Christmas. It looks like a haunted bouquet.

6. French fries after 9:00 p.m. = bad idea.

7. One side of my nose might be getting a cold.

8. In a recent unscientific poll of 4th and 5th grade boys, the following things are funny:
Poop
Pee
Catapults
Exploding ducks
Men with hairy backs
Anyone named Bob
Pie
9. I have to get ready for work so I can do a retelling of the Japanese folktale The Crane Wife to fourth graders today. There is a part when the tension builds and they just know something is going to happen (because IT IS) and, well....I like to drag it out until their eyes are all glassy and big.....then I SCARE them.

Some days, my job is better than others.

I see that the list of things that 4th and 5th graders find funny hasn't changed much over the years.

I thought I was the only one who had haunted bouquets. Actually mine is a single rose that my husband gave me a few years back. It dried so nicely that it is quite interesting looking.

I'm all for haunted bouquets. I keep them until the dust causes one side of my nose to feel like it's getting a cold.
Boys love bodily functions in a way I don't fully understand. But I must say Suzanne Collins did a fine job of sneaking poop into Gregor the Overlander. Even I smiled.
I'm so cold of late that I've discovered I must live on brie in fresh warm bread.
Great list. All smiles thanks to you.

Ha ha ha! My son is in 3rd grade, and he thinks anything with the word pie is hilarious!! :-)

Shelley: love your posts. Even supposedly random thoughts posts are brilliant. Like Tricia, I love your haunted bouquet.

Way to go, scare small people. :)

Your list of randomness made me laugh out loud. Very funny post! My kids love talking about pie as well.

LOL! Well, Bono and The Edge are currently too busy with the disaster that is the Spider Man musical on Broadway. They are touring this summer, tho... :)

My house is cold too. But we have 8 inches of snow. ;)

I think my desk and yours are long lost twins. Parent Trap?

My daughter is in 3rd grade and I teach 1st... so there is much wackiness and hilarity ensuing at all times... and half the time I don't know why they think things are funny! ;)

Ha! You sent a card to yourself? That's hilarious.

I love your randomness.

Okay you've got to do the poll next on the girls.

The cold in one nostril made me smile, too.

Susanne-Your flower sounds hauntingly lovely....my was just possessed looking. I can see today that someone took it away. Unless it moved by itself.....

Tricia-Okay, now I have to read Gregor. I have heard so many good things about it and now, well, it has poop, too! What's not to love?

Shannon-I mean, what IS it with pie? I find pie a bit comforting and grandma like...but kids...wha?

Yat-Yee-It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it! hehehe

Stasia-So lame!! I couldn't believe I had written my cousin's name but my own address on the envelope. That is why I am not allowed to do things that normal people do.

Roxy-Thanks. Again I ask...why PIE?? (Out in the world somewhere, two little 8 year olds just cracked up.)

Lindsay-I totally forgot about the Spiderman thing. I hope it's not a hot mess. I mean, doesn't everything Bono touches turn to gold? And I am cleaning the desk today...er...um...tonight.

Susan-What was hilarious is that I couldn't figure out what it was!

Catherine-Thank you...sometimes this brain is hard to live in, but it is rarely boring.

Margo-Yep. Next poll I'll ask the girls....wonder what they'll say.

SF-Aw, I wish you could come, too. It would be so much fun to go and hang out.

Exploding ducks, huh? I didn't know.

If U2 does release something, you'll let us all know, won't you?
